Now that we’ve talked about Gmail skins, we might as well cover MySpace too. So, tell me, are you a MySpace user? Now, don’t be shy! I know there are a few of you out there, because I’ve gotten e-mails from you about it before. Well, either way, I’ve got some great news today for all MySpace users alike. I about flipped when I heard about this and I think you will too. So, what’s the news? Well, it all has to do with MySpace skins. Not sure what those are? Then make sure you keep reading to get the full scoop!
First of all, the easiest way I can think of to describe a skin is that they’re like the wallpaper you put on your desktop. A lot of programs have different skins and you can mix and match them as much as you wish. And now MySpace has joined in! In the past couple of weeks, you may have noticed something a little different when you log in to your MySpace account. Up in the top right hand corner, there’s a new feature called “Page Options.” Right next to that, there’s an option for the Classic View and then there’s a link for the New Home Skin. If you click on that link, your whole profile homepage will change to a new style. I’ll give you a second to check it out and then we’ll talk a little more about it!
The new MySpace skin basically changes around the order of everything on your homepage. For example, you’ll now see all of the bulletins in the middle of the page instead of off to the left and some of the links that used to be right beside your picture are now at the top of the page, among other things. Also, at the top of the page, there is now a box that’s titled Friend Status. With that, you can see which of your friends have changed their status recently and you can see what they have to say. Your Control Panel (Inbox, Sent, Friend Requests, etc.) has a different look to it as well. And those are just some of the differences you’ll see with the new skin. Now, if you try it for awhile and you don’t like it, you can always switch back to the old view. To do so, just click on the Classic View link at the top of the page. Whichever one you choose to use, isn’t it nice to have options? Check the new MySpace skin out today. You never know, you might just fall in love with it!
