New Firefox Themes

Friday, March 9th, 2007 by | Filed Under: Using The Internet

Have there been any new Firefox themes added to the list recently? I’ve been wanting to change mine for awhile now, but I wanted to see if there were any new ones first. Please inform me!

Well, let me tell you what. You’ve come to right place, because it just so happens that Firefox has welcomed a few additions to their theme list just recently. And when I say recently, I mean just in the last week. Since the beginning of March 2007, Firefox has added five new themes that you can now choose from. With those and all the others Firefox already had, your options are pretty much endless! Let’s take a look at the new “Fab Five!”

1.) iPox – This is the newest addition to the Firefox theme list, as it just came out yesterday (March 6, 2007). This one was developed by TwisterMc and it’s a very “easy on the eyes” type of theme. Its basic colors are white and blue and it’s just a very laid back theme for Firefox. It works with Windows, Macs and Linux. Click here for more details on iPox and to install it for yourself.

2.) MidnightFox – This theme was introduced on March 3, 2007 and it was also designed by TwisterMc. MidnightFox is more of a dark colored theme, but it also has brightly colored buttons to contrast with the darkness. If you don’t like to look at dark colors all the time, you may not want to download this theme. This one also works with Windows, Macs and Linux. Visit this link for more information about MidnightFox and to install it.

3.) Lila 2.0 – Next up is a theme called Lila 2.0 and it was released on March 2, 2007 by Ben Hjelt. This one is already up a version from the 1.999, which just came out in February. This theme is based around the Lila community project theme that other developers have used before. It has bits and pieces of the Firefox 2.0 default theme as well. The Lila theme is designed to provide lila-style resources for your desktop. It also has a lot to do with SVG graphics. Lila 2.0 for Firefox doesn’t include all of those details, but it is similar. Also, this one only works with Linux. It is not available for Windows or Mac users. Read here for more information about Lila 2.0 if you’re interested.

4.) AeroFox Basic – This next theme was introduced on March 1, 2007 by Triton. This one is basically meant to go along with the new Aero interface that Windows Vista uses. Therefore, it is only available for Windows users. So, if you’re looking for a new theme to go along with your new Vista operating system, this one is for you. Click here for more information and to install AeroFox Basic for yourself.

5.) PinkHope – The last theme is called PinkHope and it was also released on March 1, 2007. It was designed by TwisterMc as well. As you might have guessed from its title, the PinkHope theme is used for breast cancer awareness. It’s actually very similar to the looks of iPox (number one above), but it’s done all in the color pink. PinkHope’s developers are hoping to make it more of a separate theme from any of the others soon, but that’s all still in the works. This theme works with Windows, Macs and Linux as well. If you don’t really like the color pink, you might not be too fond of this, but it does help to keep the breast cancer awareness alive, so that may change your mind. I definitely have to say this theme is my favorite! Read here for more information and to install PinkHope for your Firefox browser.

Now, when you go to install any of these themes, just click on the Install Now button and click Open. Just follow the directions and your new theme will come up shortly after. Also, I want to make sure everyone understands that some of these themes are still having all of the quirks worked out of them. They are available for download right now, but you may want to keep checking back for recent updates and so on.

Also, if you’re not impressed by any of the themes described above, you can always search for another one that fits your interests on Firefox’s theme page. As a matter of fact, you can find that page right here. You’ll see a listing for the most popular themes and by clicking either of the More links, you will have many, many more to choose from. Go find your favorite theme today!
