Amazon’s new line of Kindle Fire HDX Tablets and they come with an interesting new feature, a Mayday Button that brings instant customer support.
A user having trouble with a feature can tap the Mayday button and an Amazon expert will appear on the tablet.
The advisor can assist you in one of three ways. They can help you understand the feature by drawing on your screen.
Walk you through the process and have you do it yourself…
Or even do it for you remotely – whatever works best. Amazon says the response-time goal is 15 seconds or less. The Mayday service will be available 24/7, 365 days a year and it’s free. You’ll be able to see the tech advisor, but they won’t be able to see you.
“With the Mayday button, our goal is to revolutionize tech support,” said Jeff Bezos, Amazon.com Founder and CEO. “With a single tap, an Amazon expert will appear on your Fire HDX and can co-pilot you through any feature.”
The feature will be highlighted in a new series of television commercials.
Amazon provided glowing testimonials from users who had tried out the feature. The service could help Amazon stand out in a competitive tablet field, where they no longer necessarily have a price advantage.
The HDX 8.9 runs between $379 and $579 while the HDX 7 starts between $229 and $409. The new models will be released November 14.
