New Security Fixes

Today, instead of telling you about a new scary threat to your system, I have some good news! As promised, I’m keeping you up to date on security issues we have covered before. I have two fixes for some pretty big bugs still looming around the Web. Let’s see what we’ve got!

First, let’s talk about Safari. If you remember, a couple weeks ago, I wrote about a pretty big issue with the Safari Web browser for Windows that allowed an attacker to gain access to your computer. Well, now, I have a fix! If you have Safari on your computer, go to http://www.apple.com/safari/download/ and download the newest version. That version has been patched with a couple security updates and other stability upgrades that completely shuts out the nasty “carpet bombing” attack I told you about. It’s now safe to use Safari again. Whew! If you’ve never used Safari, now would be a good time to check it out if you’d like. Just click on the same link above to do so.

Secondly, I would like to talk about a security issue that affected Yahoo! Messenger. That exploit allowed attackers to gain access to your e-mail and send out spam. It was a huge problem for Yahoo! and it has become more of an issue for nearly all e-mail providers. The good news is, Yahoo! has fixed the bug. To fix the issue for yourself, do absolutely nothing! It has been resolved on Yahoo’s! side and it’s completely fixed and safe to use once again. Until next week, stay safe out there, my friends!
