Quick Tips

Change Your Google Background Image

Do you want to personalize your Google search experience a little more? Maybe add a custom background to the minimalist Google.com homepage?

It's easy, but first you must log into your account at www.google.com.

After you log in, simply click the link at the bottom left of the page that says Change background image.

A window will pop up that gives you a bunch of options that looks like this:

You can upload an image from your computer, grab one from your Picasa album (if you have one) or browse through the editor's picks or public gallery to find your new Google background.

Now just click on an image, hit Select and marvel at the personalization power you have!

If you ever want to remove your Google background, just click Remove background image at the bottom left of the page.

BACK IN STOCK!! We featured these a just over a week ago and sold out in less than a day!! You're in luck, we got our hands on just a few more! You'll want to be sure to get yours today, before they're gone!

Awesome Wireless 3D Optical Mouse!

Stop Fighting With #$!%# Cords!

Even Save Battery Power!!!

Ingenious Back-Up Retractable USB Cable Included!

Perfect For Both Desktops and Laptops!

WOW! Best Mouse You'll Ever Own!

ONLY 100 Available!!

Sick and tired of all those pesky wires on your desktop? Me too!
Well, grab this mouse today and help unclutter that rat's nest of wires! You'll wonder why you kept that old, annoying wired mouse for so long!

Here's the exciting part about this one! You know what the number one problem is with wireless mice? The stupid batteries ALWAYS die at the worst possible time! I hate that! Having a wireless mouse is fantastic, until it's late, you need to finish something up, your mouse is belly-up, and there's no "AA" batteries to be found. Well, these guys thought of that and created a backup plan - this has a retractable USB cord that you can plug in!

You read that right! Next time your batteries die, just pull out the retractable cable and plug into any free USB port and get right back at it! FINALLY - someone designed a wireless mouse with a brilliant backup plan! When you get new batteries, just retract the cord and you'll never know it's there!

With that said, the above problem is gonna be rare for you because this guy is a big-time battery saver! When this mouse is not in use, it will actually turn off, saving you tons of battery juice! Replacing the batteries will no longer be a weekly ordeal - these batteries you will you a LONG time!

In addition, this mouse uses amazing optical technology! You know what I hate about regular "ball" mice- they collect dirt and dust. Do you remember always having to dig out a Q-tip, take apart the mouse, and delicately clean out that area so it would "roll" correctly? DO you still do that?? Not with this guy - no cleaning necessary!

Now so far this mouse is sounding pretty awesome- but you gotta check this out too!
This mouse has a fantastic three button design with a scroll wheel that acts as the third button! This type of design really provides the fastest, most proficient navigating ever! It's like driving a Lamborghini down the information super highway!

Plus, this mouse is extremely comfortable on your hand! You'll be able to use it for hours and never have to worry about your hand cramping or being uncomfortable! Oh, and talk about great quality! Last time we featured this, we got TONS of comments about the amazing quality of this mouse - it feels solid in your hand like it was really built to last! I like it so much I replaced my Logitech mouse with it - I absolutely love the quality and the optional cord has been a life-saver! Wait till you get your hand on it :-)

Think setting up a new mouse is going to be a pain? With this mouse you have absolutely nothing to worry about because it is truly plug and play. There is nothing to install! Just make sure the mouse has two working AA batteries, plug in the USB receiver, and you are all set! It really couldn't get more easy!

And your cost is unbeatable! Get this sweet mouse for just $14.97 and US shipping is FREE! Try it for a few days and you'll agree it's worth 3X that much! Hey, and if you don't love it, send it back to me within 2 months and I'll give you a refund! Nothing to lose - treat yourself to this amazing mouse today!

http://store.worldstart.com/product/6267

PS: This mouse is sooo cool! Once you try it, you are going to wonder what you did without it! Order yours now - price goes up to $18.97 tonight at 11:59pm tonight!

Don't forget - with any shipped order* you get 2 FREE Integra Mechanical Pencils, while supplies last!!

This Is Incredible!!

Easily Get Data Off Your Old Hard Drives!

This Makes Backups Cheap, Quick, And EASY!
Sata
Use Internal Hard Drives OUTSIDE The Computer!

This Ingenious Adapter Pays For Itself - FAST!

OK, THIS is really sweet! When I first discovered these, all I could think was, "WOW! EVERYONE needs something like this - what an INCREDIBLE idea!"

What the heck is it? Glad you asked!

We have this amazing little USB Cable Adapter and it has gotta be one of the most brilliant ideas I've ever come across!

What's it do? Basically, this amazing device lets you use an internal hard drive as an external hard drive!

Here's how it works:

You take an internal hard drive - IDE or SATA (that's pretty much everything from the last 10+ years) and plug it into this device. Then plug the USB cable into your computer - that's it! The hard drive you hooked up will show up as a removable drive under My Computer! How cool is that?

Just think of the uses for this! Let's say you have an old computer laying around and you REALLY want to get the info off the old hard drive and onto your new computer. With this, just pop out the old hard drive, hook it to this little gadget, and plug the USB cable into your new computer. You just got your data back!

Oh, and if you're like me and have been computing for awhile, you probably have an old hard drive or two lying around. If so, just hook it up to this and have instant USB access to your files! Now THAT'S smart!

My favorite use for this? Using it as a cheap backup device!

OK, think about this - how much does an external hard drive cost? They're freakin' expensive! In a LOT of cases they can easily run over $100 - even $200 isn't unusual! Sad part is, if you're like most people, you're just using them as a backup device or extra storage. Know why you're paying so much? That pretty case!

Why not just use an internal hard drive with one of these adapters?

Think about it - hook up any internal IDE or SATA drive to this device and you instantly have a place for backups or extra storage! When you're done, just stick the drive in your desk drawer! Hey, that's my backup plan most of the time! Internal drives are easier to store, cheaper to buy (think WAY cheaper) and just as reliable! Heck, I'll bet you have an old computer lying around right now with a drive you could scavenge and use for backups!

All you need is this Hard Drive Adapter and you're good to go!

Your cost? Just $19.97 and US Shipping is FREE! It's an incredible deal - especially when you figure in all the money it's going to save you on those fancy external drives! Pays for itself almost instantly! Check it out:

http://store.worldstart.com/product/3564

PS - Stop getting ripped off for hard drive storage! Grab one of these and use ANY IDE or SATA drive for extra space, backup, and storage! Better hurry - the price is headed back up at 11:59pm, CST tonight (08-23-2010)!

Don't forget - with any shipped order* you get 2 FREE Integra Mechanical Pencils, while supplies last!

Computers 101

Norma from FL asks:
How do I download and install Flash Player? I've tried a few times, but it just keeps giving me an error.

A:
Thanks for writing, Norma!

Adobe Flash Player is used to add video and animation to Web pages and is used mostly for advertisements, games, and interactivity on websites. Anyone that uses the Web needs to have Adobe Flash Player installed on their computer to see content on websites correctly. This article will help you determine why you cannot get Adobe Flash Player installed on your computer.

Flash Player Version Installed
Before we get started, we need to determine what version of Flash Player you have already have installed on your computer, if any. To do this go to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about. If you have successfully installed Flash Player, you will see the version.

If Flash Player is not successfully installed you will not see this image.

Uninstall Previous Versions
If you already have Adobe Flash on your computer, let’s uninstall it before we try a new installation. To uninstall Adobe Flash Player, download the Flash Player uninstaller from their website. Navigate to http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html

Save the file to your Desktop. Close all applications that are open on your computer. Some application icons may be in your task bar (next to the clock) such as Yahoo Instant Messenger, etc. If you see these right-click and select Close or Exit.

Click on the uninstaller file on your desktop and go through the onscreen instructions to uninstall Adobe Flash Player.

Restart your computer by clicking the Start button, the arrow next to Shutdown then click Restart.

Navigate to About Adobe Flash Player and see if you see the image. If you still do, Adobe Flash Player was not uninstalled. Check again that all applications are closed and try the above steps again until you do not see the image.

Now, if you are using Internet Explorer as your browser, we need to verify the ActiveX settings and security. To do this:

Open Internet Explorer and click on Tools then Options. Select the Security tab then Trusted Sites zone. Click the Default Level button and slide the slider to Medium. Click Apply.

Select the Internet Zone and repeat the steps above. When you are finished click OK and close the window.

Install Adobe Flash Player
Now that we have all previous versions of Adobe Flash Player uninstalled let’s try to install it.
Navigate to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/. Deselect the Free McAfee Security Scan Plus if you don’t want it. This is optional. Click on the Agree and Install Now button and go through the onscreen instructions.

If you are still having problems installing Adobe Flash Player:

If you use Internet Explorer make sure JavaScript is enabled. Open Internet Explorer and click Tools then Internet Options. Click the Security tab and select the Trusted sites zone. Click Custom Level and find Scripting in the list. Under Active Scripting, select Enable. Click OK. Click the Internet Zone and repeat the steps above.

If you use Internet Explorer, allow content if you get an ActiveX warning when installing Adobe Flash Player. You need to select Allow Blocked Content at the top of the screen.
In Internet Explorer, whenever you get an ActiveX warning, select Allow Blocked Content.

If you use Firefox, you may get a warning that Firefox prevented this site from asking you to install software on your computer. Click the Allow button.

Firefox then displays a pop-up asking you to restart Firefox. Select Restart Firefox.

If you use Internet Explorer you may see a warning:

Click on the yellow bar and follow the instructions to allow the installation.

If you use Firefox, you may get a warning such as Install add-ons only from authors whom you trust. Click the Install Now button. When it finishes you will need to restart Firefox.

Tip of the Day

Windows 7 Homegroup

If, like me, you’ve taken the plunge and upgraded to Windows 7, you’re probably wondering how some of these new features work. For instance, I had no idea what a “homegroup” was before I did a bit of digging. Here’s what I found.

A homegroup is a new function that allows you to share files between computers on the same home network. Whilst Windows users have been able to do this on previous versions of Windows, using the homegroup function makes everything a lot easier!

Setting up a homegroup is really simple. Click here to get started!

Behind the Name

Have you ever wondered where your name originated? In fact, I’ve always been quite fascinated with the etymology of words, so of course that also includes names.

How do I recommend you browse this site? Well start by typing your first name into the search field under Search for Names, and then clicking the search button, so that you can discover what your name’s history is!

The etymology of names is not all you will find here. You can also Browse Names. This is just above the search area and is setup so that you can browse by alphabetical order or by feminine and masculine.

On the left side of the page you’ll find a menu that has lots of fun name related things for you to check out. You can check out Popular Names, Namesakes, play with the Random Renamer, and even check out Anagram Names, and Name Themes.

Whether you have a baby on the way to name or you’re just curious about your name, you’ll find something fun and interesting to do at this site. Check it out today!
