Quick Tip

Disable Geolocation in Internet Explorer 9

I don’t know what it is about modern technology, but it seems as though every piece of hardware and software out there wants to know where you are at all times.

It’s like an over-protective mother, I tell ya!

So, if you’re looking for some location privacy (at least in Internet Explorer 9), then here’s how you turn off the geolocation feature.

In Internet Explorer 9, click the Cog icon in the upper right-hand corner and then Internet Options.

And there you have it. Now IE9 won’t get all invasive and ask you where you are at all hours of the day.

Slowly Drowning in USB Devices...

It's the age of technology, and we've all got TONS of awesome USB devices!  From Cell Phones to iPods, MP3 players to digital cameras and thousands of others, pretty much all new devices are USB powered.

The only problem is charging them.  Sure, they all come with USB connector cords for charging, but it's up to you to actually get it done.  You can use up ALL of your available USB ports on your computer just by charing a couple of devices.  And if you have an individual wall adapter for your other ones, you already know how old that gets - and fast!

And let's not even get started on traveling!  It gets even worse then, because you only have a couple of AC outlets to work with in a hotel room. Here's the bottom line:

You're using up ALL of your available outlets and can't plug anything else in! This is MADNESS and it needs to stop.  NOW!

The ANSWER Has Arrived!

Plug it Into ONE AC Outlet - Charge 4 USB Devices at ONCE!

It REALLY is that SIMPLE!  Stop letting USB devices take over your home, life AND sanity! Now, instead of having them charging in all of your AC outlets, you can just use one - and charge up to 4 devices at a time!

Plug it in. Walk away.  That's all you have to do! Seriously - this is a simple device with amazing results.  It plugs into an AC outlet, and the bottom of the device has 4 Universal USB ports.

So plug whatever you've got directly into the charger and let it do it's thing!

In no time, this powerful charger will have your devices charged up and ready to go! Oh...and you're USB ports on  your computer can be used for what they're meant for - not charging!

It's LOADED With Awesome Features!

The manufacturers left NOTHING to be desired - let me tell you!  This charger has a blue LED indicator light that lets you know it's on and charging!  No more guessing games - just straight-forward charging power!

It also features a FOLDING AC plug! You know what this is perfect for, right?  Traveling and portability!  It's kinda hard to fit a charger nicely in a travel or laptop bag when it's sharp prongs are jutting out!  This brilliant feature allows you to fold the AC plug in, so it's back is flat and SIMPLE to carry.

It's the little things like this that really set this charger apart from all of the cheaper, less efficient imitators!

IT'S NOT PICKY: There's NO USB Device This Can't Charge!

Seriously, whatever USB device you've got, you can rest assured that this bad boy will give it a FULL charge!  Here's just a little SPECK of what this can and will charge:

iPod's, MP3 Players and other USB Music Devices

iPads, iPhones, Cell Phones, Blackberry's, and PDA's

Digital Cameras, Laptop Fans, even Laptops!

Whatever you've got, you can plug it into this Super Charger and get it done!  No more of those bulky, outdated individual adapters.  No more waiting for one device to charge so you can plug the next one in. No more running out of AC wall outlets - which is a RIDICULOUS thing to have happen.  Nope - just 110% FULL CHARGING FREEDOM!

Top Quality at An UNBELIEVABLY LOW Price!

Hey, it's not every day that you'll find a charger PACKED full of all these amazing features!  If you're ever able to find one at a box store, prepare to drop some serious coin!  Of course, you can just order a better one from us for just $14.97  with FREE US SHIPPING included!

Computers 101

Karen from Opelika, Alabama writes:

I have a laptop computer and use a Logitech Laser mouse instead of the laptop touch pad. How can I shut off the laptop touch pad?

That’s a great question… anyone who connects a mouse to their laptop knows how annoying it is when you’ve accidentally hit the touchpad while using the keyboard.

I do it all the time, and I’ve found that disabling it really makes my work go faster and keeps my frustration level low.

So the question still stands – how do you disable the touchpad mouse?

Well – as you might have guessed we’re going to need to get into the Control Panel of your system. (Start Button / Control Panel)

While every version of Windows seem to vary slightly, you’re looking to find the mouse settings – often found under Devices and Printers. (This could be buried under another heading like Hardware and Sound, but basically you’re searching Device settings.)

Here’s a quick look at where I found my devices in Windows 7.

devices_and_printers_win7

If you’ve got an older version of Windows and the option to view the Control Panel in a classic layout, then you could go straight to the Mouse icon.

mouse_icon_cntrl_panel

At any rate – icon or link – you’re looking to click on the mouse to open its properties dialog box.

Once there, you need to locate the settings for the touchpad mouse

I found a separate tab for the settings related to the built-in touchpad mouse in my computer.

touchpad_settings_dialog

I found a very convenient setting – “Disable when external USB mouse is plugged in” – but basically locate and select whatever disable option you may have and click OK.

Voila!

No more bumping the touchpad and finding your cursor in a completely different and unexpected location!

On The Move

 iMessage for iOS 5

With the debut of iOS 5, Apple released an innovate new feature called iMessage. Basically, iMessage is a built-in messaging platform that can be used between any iOS devices, that is, iPhones, iPod touches, or iPads. Along with the usual ability to send texts, iMessage boasts some pretty nifty features which I’d like to explore with you today.

iMessage comes enabled on iPhones by default. However, if you own an iPod touch or iPad you’ll need to activate it by selecting the Settings icon, followed by Messages, and turning on iMessage. Just follow the on-screen instructions and sign in with your Apple ID.

Blocking Unauthorized USB Devices

Note: This tip may not apply to all versions of Windows.

In terms of computer security and privacy, USB devices are usually the weakest point. Even the strongest firewall or security software can be bypassed just by plugging in a USB drive.

With the growing amount of data a single USB flash drive can hold (up to 128 GB) and the increase to data transfer speed (with USB 3.0) you can imagine how easy it is to copy data to such a device. Using the newest generation of USB devices, data thieves can copy your entire hard drive in minutes.

Besides data theft and privacy issues, USB devices are now the main method of propagation for computer viruses and spyware. Inserting an unknown USB device into a computer can be dangerous. As most of the worms transmitted this way are new, they could go undetected even by the best security suites.

So, how can we protect our privacy and data from such a security risk? By giving access to the computer to only those USB devices that we trust.

Today's Feature

 Capture and Annotate

Just a few days ago, my friend sent a link to my inbox. When I opened it up, I was greeted by something that looked very similar to this:

It’s a full snapshot of a webpage, complete with annotations showing me exactly what she wanted me to focus on. Of course, there was also a hyperlink to the original page on the web. I thought to myself, “Self… this is neat-o!” I mean, how many times have you sent someone a link, followed by a little message explaining the most essential part of the article or webpage? All the time, right?!

This new add-on, Capture and Annotate lets you markup web pages any which way you please, and then share them fast! It fits easily right into your Firefox or Chrome browser.

Get the link for it by clicking here!

Amanda's Coolsite

Lexical Word Finder

Ever since I discovered the application Words with Friends for my smart phone I’ve been hooked. Basically it is a version of scrabble that you can play either on your phone or via Facebook. While I was looking for some help making a word online with a very odd assortment of letters (as in they didn’t make any word I knew of) I discovered this site!

Lexical Word Finder brings you scrabble word-finding help for a variety of games. At the bottom of the page you can select which game you are playing from Scrabble, Lexulous, WordWise, Super Scrabble, Words with Friends, Wordsmith, Literati, Wordfeud, and AbbleDabble.

After selecting the game you’re playing type in the tiles you have at hand in the blank text field. For a blank tile insert a space. Then click Search and it will find you the highest scoring word for the letters you have.

Another nice feature is that you can type in the other words on your board. Just click the spaces on the board and then enter a letter. With this feature you can make this board match the board you are playing on. Then it will offer the best suggestion for the highest scoring word based off of the actual set up of your game.

I hope you check this site out and win many a game of scrabble no matter which version you’re playing.

One More Big Deal

Flash Drives Are GREAT - But They ALL Have One FATAL Flaw:

THEY'RE FRAGILE, SENSITIVE, & SUSCEPTIBLE TO THE ELEMENTS!

Either You Protect ALL of That Important Info You Have Stored...

OR YOU RISK LOSING ALL OF IT FOR GOOD!

Ready for the PERFECT Solution for Protection, Storage AND Portability?

We've Got It - A Neoprene Sleeve of USB Flash Drive ARMOR!

Fits Like a GLOVE -  Flexible, Strong and SECURE!

High-Quality Neoprene Gives You 100% FULL Protection!

You Can Lose...EVERYTHING...

Flash drives.  We ALL use 'em: we depend on them to store important information and documents.
And they're great - portable, small and extremely convenient!  Depending on how many gigs you like to carry around, we're talking a TON of important info stored on these things.

But ALL flash drives have one fatal flaw in common: they're brittle and susceptible to damage from shock, moisture, and a host of other things!

Kinda scary, right?  I mean, let's just say you have an entire work presentation on a flash drive.  Or a 20 page thesis paper.  Or your ENTIRE music collection - whatever. All it takes is one drop to the ground and it could be completely destroyed - taking your important documents along with it!

You know what you need, right?  You need ultimate PORTABLE PROTECTION for your flash drives - and we've got it!

Padded USB Flash Drive Cases Brought to you by Case Logic - A TRUSTED Name!

Protect that USB Flash Drive!

This is the PERFECT accessory that'll NEVER get in your way!  As you can see, these cases are almost as small as the Flash Drives they protect, and they have a nice key chain lanyard clip at the top!

This makes them absolutely ideal if you're the type of person who always carries a flash drive with them - and who doesn't these days?

Now, instead of stashing your flash drive FULL of important documents, music, pictures and everything else inside of your messy bag, or cramming it in your pocket, you can have a nice, padded case that PROTECTS your flash drive WITHOUT ever getting in your way!

Just connect it to your key chain and you'll NEVER forget to bring it with you!  Of course, don't limit yourself, either.  Some people (me included) don't want to have extra attachments to our already too bulky key chains.  You don't have to clip this on, it's just a convenient option!

The clip is also perfect for securely storing on the inside or outside of a book bag, laptop bag or purse!

YOU CAN EVEN REMOVE THE KEY RING IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO USE IT!

SOLID Neoprene Construction!

Talk about HIGH-QUALITY!  If you're not familiar with neoprene, I'll just say this now: it's the FUTURE when it comes to protective cases!  Neoprene is a soft-to-the-touch material that's flexible (can stretch) but doesn't compromise on toughness!

Try as you might, you won't be able to rip, tear or stretch neoprene out.  In fact, most of the high-end laptop cases made today are constructed of neoprene, and they go for BIG bucks! This isn't a surprise, because neoprene is the BEST quality material available in protective cases today!

So go ahead and STOP worrying about your flash drive, and get on with your busy life!  This case makes it really easy!

Ultimate Flash Drive Protection!

No matter what kind of protection you're looking for, you can get it with one of these!  It's thick padded and tough - and you can use it with 100% CONFIDENCE:

Padded Neoprene provides excellent shock resistance!
Fully enclosed case provides dust and dirt protection and keeps it out of the sun!
It's 100% PORTABLE protection that you can count on!

Superior Fury

Sometimes landscape photography can get hazardous - and this was one of those times. This was taken while I was perched about 3 feet from the edge of a fairly steep cliff on the edge of Lake Superior. The wind snarled and the waves filled the air with a roar that had to be experienced to be believed. That's why I arrived early and...(More)

Star Trails Over Golden Canyon

This was created one cloudless night over Golden Canyon near Zabriskie Point, Death Valley. Most of the time, I really love getting some cool clouds at sunset, but when I'm stuck with a sky that's dull, boring and clear, that can only mean one thing - star trails! So, I set up the camera and….. (More)
