OpenOffice.org: Could You Explain That A Little Bit More?

Posted By April On August 2, 2011 @ 11:55 AM In OpenOffice | No Comments

All the tool-bars, containing what feels like a million buttons, can sometimes overwhelm someone who isn’t familiar with them.

As you slide your pointer over them, you get something that looks like this:

ooo_button_label [1]

It’s really just a label, which may not do a whole lot for you… so now what?

Here’s a quick and easy way to temporarily get a bit more information about a specific button without actually using it and then regretting the choice.

Shift + F1

Yep – that’s the whole trick – when you use Shift + F1 your pointer will have a small ? added to it.

Once that change has taken affect you’ll now see this explanation for that same button.

ooo_button_explanation [2]

To turn the feature off simply use the Esc key.

That’s all there is to it – more explanation in a temporary form that can be disabled with a single key.
