Yes, you did read it correctly and yes, we can copy text without actually completing a copy / paste.

I’m quite positive that you’re eager to know how, so I’m going to get right to the business end of this tip.

• You start by selecting the text to be copied.

• Hold down the Ctrl key.

• Drag the selected text to another location and release the mouse button.

Voila!

A duplicate of the selected text in the location you chose without a single Ctrl + C, right-click or “Copy” button anywhere to be seen!
