Here you can not only find poetry; you can find articles, resources, events, media, poetry out loud, and much, much more. You can literally discover poetry here, or at the very least rediscover it like I did.
I love the article that was featured when I was there; it was all about winter themed poetry. But the two main things about the site I want to tell you about are the Poetry Tool and the Poetry Learning Lab.
The Poetry Tool can be found right on the main page. It helps you find poetry by many different search options. They are: By Poet, By Category, By Occasion, By Title, By First Line, and By Glossary Term. And if you can’t find it that way, you can click the Search link. This is an amazingly comprehensive way to search the site for the poem you are looking for. I can’t imagine having to build that database!
The Poetry Learning Lab not only lets you study specific poems but truly immerses you in the learning process. You can get there from the main page by clicking the big orange Learn button. I really fell in love with this section and I hope that you will too.
This is not only an amazing site dedicated to poetry, but it is also an amazing learning tool for anyone who is studying poetry. It would be great for teenagers who have to read poetry for their English classes to better understand what they are reading, or even for students in college who are in survey classes where they have to read poetry in addition to fiction and plays! I sure wish I had access to it when I was in high school!
