Public Art Archive

One of the things I absolute adore about Eastern Michigan’s campus is the art walk. There are public art displays that you can stroll through beside a gorgeous lawn. One of the first thing I did this summer after training was stroll the path and see the art and take photographs.

I can’t tell you how pleased I was to discover this site. It’s an awesome database that you can use to search for public art exhibits in the United States and Canada. You can search by Artist, Collection,  Material, Title, Venue or Year.

You can also click the Browse button and then select the category you want to search through. The Browse options are: Artists, Collections, Locations,  Materials, Title, Worktype, Placement, or Year.

Once you find a place or artist or collection you’d like to view you can click the image or the title link and be whisked to that page, where you’ll find more information about the artwork, its location, as well as more images and a map of the area it is located in.

I think this would be a great way to add fun and interesting art to your vacation. You could search/browse by location and then check out the free public art wherever you’re visiting!
