Surprisingly, the iPad touchscreen keyboard responds well to my frantic tappings – far better than I ever expected a touch-screen keyboard to react, actually. But when you’re chugging along at 30+ words per minute, and want to eek out a little more speed, every shortcut helps.
So when you’re typing away at your iPad, and you want to add a period at the end of a sentence, don’t waste time with extra keypresses – just double-tap the spacebar.

Boom! Instant period punctuation!

Are you sure about that words per minute? I can’t see 170 words per minute in any shape or form. I’m not sure I want an iPad because of the touch screen lol. I’m fumble fingers and would probably type the wrong letters more than do on a regular keyboard.
Hi Kathy,
You do get used to it faster than you think. But if you’re still leery, just buy a stylus–they are inexpensive and run between just $10-$14. You can also use it for scrolling, choosing menus, apps, etc.–anything your fingers would normally do.
