Quick Update: Windows 7
It’s been awhile since we’ve talked about the new operating system of Windows 7, so I thought I’d give you a quick update on it today! I know there are a lot of you out there who are anxious about it, because I get e-mails with questions about it all the time. Now, before I go any further, I want to make sure everyone is on the same page. If you’re not quite sure what Windows 7 is, it’s the next operating system to come from Microsoft and it’s scheduled to be released in early 2010. You can read all about it right here if you’d like!
So, what’s new with Windows 7? Well, it was confirmed last week by Microsoft’s own Bill Veghte that the development of Windows 7 is right on track and it will still be shipped out in January of 2010. From the beginning, Microsoft said they wanted to ship Windows 7 exactly three years after Windows Vista was released. And as of right now, it looks like they will accomplish that. “The product is tracking very, very well,” Veghte said. “We are committed and looking good.”
Microsoft officials haven’t given out many details about Windows 7 yet, but they are promising a brand new look and for it to be very user friendly. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said, “It’s going to look great. It’s going to be quite compatible.” He added, “The design point is compatible from the get go in large measure.” The design is supposed to help everyone transition from Vista to Windows 7 with minimal trouble and no big changes. I guess we’ll see how that turns out, but that’s the word right now. Like I said, I just wanted to give you all a quick update and I will continue to do so as more news comes in!
