Quotiki is a wiki of quotes that you can tag, rate and add to as a member! To register, click on the Sign Up button at the top of the page. Then fill out the form with your name, e-mail address and a password. Next, you’ll need to check the e-mail address you provided for a confirmation letter. My letter came right away, so you shouldn’t have to wait very long.
Navigation is easy! You can start with the quotes right on the main page. You can give it a thumbs up or a thumbs down to rate it. You can filter the quotes by tags or use the search engine at the top of the page to find the quotes you’re looking for.
There’s a Quote of the Day on the right hand side of the page, just above the About Quotiki area. The quote of the day when I visited was really awesome: “Life’s tragedy is that we get old too soon and wise too late.” It’s by Benjamin Franklin.
To add a quote to the Web site, click on the Submit button at the top of the page and then select what type of quote it is. Is it a quote, a dialogue or a chat log? Once you’ve decided (they do provide excellent examples of each), click on the Next button.
On the next page, you’re faced with an empty text box. That’s where you type in your quote. Below that, you’ll find a place to type in the author, a text box for contextual information about the quote and a drop down box where you can select where the quote came from. For example, a book, document, episode, movie, etc.
When you’re finished entering all the information for your quote, click on the Submit button. If you mess something up and don’t notice until you’ve submitted it, don’t worry! You can edit it. Click on the text of your quote and you’ll be taken to your quote’s page, where you’ll find an Edit option.
This is an awesome quote source, so be sure to check it out today!
