You know I’ve been on a house cleaning kick, well one of the things I’ve been sorting through and planning to get rid of are excess books that we don’t need any more. We have a lot of books that we’ve read, and they’re just not books you’d ever re-read, or they’re leftovers from our childhood. Either way I’ve got boxes and boxes of them and they’re cluttering up my house.
So what does that have to do with the website today? Well, Reader to Reader is a foundation that donates books to underprivileged children by sending books to their school libraries and public libraries.
I have a ton of young adult literature and so I thought I’d send it off for these kids to enjoy! If you’d like to donate books click Donate on the link, and there you will find all the information you need on where to send the books to and how to claim your tax rebate. To find out what kinds of books they are looking for click the Book Drive link on the Donate page. This will tell you specifically what they are looking for and how they’d prefer you sorted the boxes you’re sending.
Is your library in need of books? Would you like for it to be a recipient of this program, then you need to check out the Programs link! There you will find all the information you need for submitting your school or library to this organization.
As a future librarian – this is a cause I believe in whole-heartedly, thank you for letting me share it with you!
