Record Your Screen With Movavi

Tuesday, January 24th, 2017 by | Filed Under: Computer Terms, Multimedia

There are times you’d like to record what’s happening on your PC. Maybe you want to document a problem or demonstrate something for someone.  To record video footage from your screen you will need third party software commonly known as a screen recorder or screen capture software. On that front Movavi Screen Capture stands out as it is not only easy to use but will also give you an easy way to fully control the video that you capture. It’s not free, but you can download a free trial to see if it works for you.

If you want to use it to record videos from your screen while also adjusting the various recording parameters, here’s what you need to do:

Click here to download Movavi Screen Capture and simply follow the steps to install it.

After being installed it will automatically launch, or you can find it in your Start Menu under All Programs in a folder entitled ‘Movavi Screen Capture 8’ (or the version that you installed).

Select ‘Record screen’ in the main menu that appears when it is launched.

Choose the part of your screen that you want to record. If you want to record a specific window you can just left-click it to select it, or you can click and drag your mouse to select a specific region of the screen. Alternatively, you can pick a preset in the ‘Capture Area’ list located on the left of the interface.

Select if you want to record audio from any source by clicking on the ‘System Audio’ or ‘Microphone’ icons so that they are highlighted in green.

Set the frame rate by selecting ‘Settings’ then ‘Preferences’ and going to the ‘Video’ tab where you can adjust the slider under ‘Frame rate’ to set it at up to 60 frames per second.

Click ‘REC’ if you want to manually start the recording at it will commence after 5 seconds, or go to ‘Capture’ then ‘Schedule Recording’ and choose to either stop it automatically after a particular duration or schedule a time to start and stop the recording.

Click ‘Stop’ to manually stop the recording at any time.

Trim out any footage you don’t want by moving the white marker along the ‘Timeline’ and using the ‘Scissors’ icon to split and isolate particular segments, then click on one to select it and click the ‘Trash can’ icon to delete it.

Click ‘Save as’ and choose a format or use one of the presets to automatically optimize the video for a device or platform.

That should cover pretty much everything you need to know about how to record screen on Windows 7 with Movavi Screen Capture. In most cases, you may not even need to perform half those steps, and can simply define the area that you want to capture, choose the audio source, and click ‘REC’ to start.
