If you’re one of those people who rents DVDs from those Redbox machines, you’ll soon be able to get those movies on demand if you have a Roku streaming box.
Roku announced that it’s made a deal with Redbox and Verizon to stream Redbox Instant to Roku boxes starting this summer.
With a subscription fee of $8 per month, subscribers will have unlimited access to thousands of popular movies plus the ability to rent four new movies a month through the Redbox Instant store or at one of the more than 43,000 Redbox kiosks nationwide.
Unlike Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime, which heavily feature TV series, Redbox keeps the focus on movies.
Redbox Instant by Verizon subscribers will be able to access the services on Roku3, Roku 2, Roku LT (models 2400 & 2450) and Roku HD (model 2500) players as well as the Roku Streaming Stick.
