A reader wrote about a problem with his Windows 8 PC. He’d reset his 8.1 PC some time back and it had reverted to Windows 8. He’d like to know how to update to 8.1, and also wants to make sure he won’t lose any files.
The good news is that you can easily update to Windows 8.1, though it might take a little time. In fact, you need to do this ASAP, since Windows 8 is no longer supported by Microsoft. First, you’ll need to make sure you run all of the available updates for Windows 8.
Then go to the Windows store and select the update to 8.1. You can learn about that process by clicking here.
The update to Windows 8.1, shouldn’t harm any of your files. As soon as that is completed, you’ll want to update once more to install the Windows 8.1.1 updates.
