Another reason I love summer because of all the things I really enjoy eating are in season like strawberries, zucchini, and summer squash. There’s such a difference in the taste and texture of any of those things during the summer here in Ohio. Zucchini here in the winter is wimpy and expensive.
Wouldn’t it be cool if you could search by the fruit or vegetable you want to eat and see if it is in season? Or to browse a list of what is currently in season? Well with Ripe Tracker you can.
When you arrive at the site, you’ll notice the Search field where you can type in the product you want to look up, say strawberries.
Just beneath the search field you’ll see a tiny link to see a list of the products. This list is really cool because it is setup by the item with a ripeness bar beneath it that is color coded. Red is out of season, yellow is in between, and green is in season. If you mouse over the bar, you’ll find that it shows the months.
If you have any questions you can check out the FAQ link at the top right corner of the page. It addresses why something might not be in the database, how to read the ripeness bar, and so much more.
