Summer is a time for riding roller coasters, visiting theme parks, and even checking out the local county fair. I think growing up near Cedar Point has given me a definite interest in roller coasters and this summer I got to wondering, when did people start riding roller coasters?
So I found this site about Roller Coaster History! I suggest you start with the section The Beginning. You’ll learn all about how slides would be transformed into the idea of the roller coaster. Then you can learn about the coasters development from the 1900’s to modern day coasters.
On the right side you’ll find featured articles on roller coaster designers like – Harry G. Traver, Walt Disney, and more! You can also find a roller coaster timeline link there too! It was interesting to see that Cedar Point was on the time line several times. The time line starts in the 1400’s and is updated up to 2005.
If you like roller coasters you’re going to love learning about how they came to be!
