Save the Words
Did you know that most of our communication with words – spoken and written – only really consists of about 7,000 words? Help save disused words from disappearing by adopting one and using it in your conversations and writing today!
When the page loads, what you’ll see is a collage of words, and if you mouse over them, words will pop up for you to click on. When you click on one, you’ll be given the definition for the word, and the option to adopt that word. If that word isn’t your cup of tea, just click the x to close the pop up, and go back to hunting for a word you can adopt.
Some of my favorite discoveries were: senticious, primiflous, snollygoster, sparsile, icasm, vectarious, and viliorate to just name a few.
At the top of the page, you’ll find links to adopt-a-word, spread the word, word-a-day, register, and f.a.q.s. To adopt-a-word or get the word-a-day, you’ll need to register. Registering is easy though, just click the register link at the top of the page, the form will then pop up and you’ll need to create a username and password, as well as provide a working e-mail address. The rest of the items on the form are optional. Then go collect the activation e-mail at the e-mail address you provided, and click the link they give you to activate your account.
