SeaMonkey Extras

Friday, June 22nd, 2007 by | Filed Under: Uncategorized

Awhile back, you said something about SeaMonkey having extensions and different themes you could get for it. Can you please give me some more information about all that? I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Well, of course I can! And my goodness, you just asked so nicely. There’s no way I could pass up this question any longer. To begin, you are absolutely right. In another tip I wrote about SeaMonkey, I did mention all the extras you can get with it. I wasn’t able to go into a lot of detail about them before, but I’m surely going to make up for that today! Now, before I go any further, if you’re not sure what all SeaMonkey is about, be sure to read this article. Once you do that, you’ll be able to better understand the rest of this tip. Alright, let’s continue on!

With SeaMonkey, you can get themes, extensions and certain plug-ins. I’ll go over each of these one by one and I’ll explain to you what each one is, how you can benefit from them and how you can get them for yourself. I’ll even give you some examples of my favorites. So, without further ado, let’s get started!

Themes – If you’re not sure, themes are like different styles of clothes you can get for your SeaMonkey utility. I’m sure you’ve changed the theme on your computer before, right? Well, the themes for SeaMonkey are just like that. You can change something small like a color or even change its whole appearance. It just helps you to personalize your SeaMonkey a little more and make it your very own.

SeaMonkey has a lot of themes you can choose from. To get started, click here. You can search by Popular Themes, New and Updated Themes or you can just browse through all of them at once. Once you click on one, you will be able to see a preview of what it will look like if you were to choose that theme. Each link has an explanation about what each theme contains as well. If you find one you like, just click the Install Now button and you’ll be all set. My favorite theme has to be the one called EarlyBlue. It’s just a simple theme, but it suits my style the best. Which one do you like?!

Extensions – In case you haven’t heard of them before, extensions are used to add a little more functionality to the SeaMonkey utility. They are also known as add ons. Extensions can be anything from a new toolbar button to a whole new feature. They are mainly used to help you customize your SeaMonkey to fit your needs and wants. It’s just one more way you can personalize your SeaMonkey to work the best for you.

The SeaMonkey extensions come in different categories, so they’re very easy to search through. You can check them all out by going here. Some of the categories include RSS, News and Blogging, Privacy and Security, Interface Customizations, Language, Search Tools and Photos and Media. There’s tons of them! If you know which category you’d like to look under, just click on its link and you’ll see a list of all the extensions available for that particular one. You can then click on each extension to learn more about it or download it. Again, to get it, just click on the Install Now button. My favorite extension by far is the one called TwittyTunes. It can be found under the Photos and Media section!

Plug-ins – For just a brief explanation, plug-ins are used to help SeaMonkey perform special functions, such as viewing different graphic formats or playing different media files. Now, this may sound just like an extension, but plug-ins are definitely different. There are only a few plug-ins available for SeaMonkey, but all of them are listed here. If you find one you want, just click the big green Install Now button. A lot of the plug-ins are common downloads, so you may already have some of them on your computer. Before you download them again, be sure to check on that. Otherwise, go ahead and add as many plug-ins as you want. They’ll only help your SeaMonkey to be its best!

So, there you have it. As if SeaMonkey wasn’t great enough, you can add all of these things to it as well. Hopefully you’re able to find something here that you’ll enjoy and your SeaMonkey application will be better than ever. Enjoy it, my friends!
