Send Lots of Vacation Photos With Dropbox (Without Attaching Photos to Your Email)

Wednesday, September 7th, 2016 by | Filed Under: Cloud Storage, Multimedia, Uncategorized, Using The Internet, Windows 10, Windows 8

As the vacation season comes to a close, you’re bound to have plenty of pictures you want to share with your friends and family. Whether you went camping, hiking or visited a historical city, you must want to share them with others.

Some people share their photos by email, but this is very time-consuming and uses large amounts of data.

If you’ve ever sent photos by email before, you’ll realize that it takes a long time to attach pictures to an email. Some of you may have hundreds of pictures that you want to send to your family or friends. With email, this just isn’t feasible.

In this article, we’ll take a look at uploading pictures to Dropbox and how to send them to family and friends. You don’t need to keep uploading the images in each email, and once you upload the images to Dropbox, you can send a link to anyone, to allow them to access the images.

1. Firstly, you will need to create a Dropbox account. Open a browser using your Start Menu or taskbar. Then, type into the address bar of your browser.

2. You will be prompted to sign up. Enter your email address and a password, which you will remember. Make sure that your password uses a combination of numbers, symbols and all caps – so that it is difficult to guess. Enter your first name also.

3. Once you’ve signed up, you will be brought to the Dropbox account page. From here, you can upload files to your Dropbox account and generate links. Let’s take a look at that. Firstly, make sure your page looks like the one below. If you’ve signed up and have a valid account, it should be at:

4. To upload pictures, click on the folder button with a plus/addition sign. This is the first button in the button list. You can see this button in the image below. Once you’ve clicked, a folder will be created.

Name your folder by typing in the space. Make sure you choose a useful name, because you will be sharing this folder name with family friends. Something like “Jenson’s Holiday Photos 2016″ could be very informative.

5. A popup box will open. Click on the blue “Choose Files” button.

6. Browse through your PC’s folders and locate your images. Then, click CTRL on your keyboard, and select your images with your mouse. To repeat that again: Hold down CTRL with one finger, and click on the images with the other finger. They should each highlight a bluish colour in turn. When you have each image highlighted, click “Open.”

7. Your photos will then start uploading. Depending on your internet speed, this could take from one minute to ten minutes. Give it some time, and each photo will upload. This time is significantly lower than attaching with email.

Tomorow, in part 2 of this tip, we’ll look at how to share your photos easily.
