Set It Up Only Once

Set It Up Only Once

By now, I’m sure most of you are aware that in MS Excel, you have different page setups for each worksheet.

How frustrated are you when you realize you’re in the Page Setup window, yet again, making the same changes you’ve made over and over for each worksheet in the book?

Or, what about the occasions when you insert a new worksheet into an established workbook? I can’t possibly imagine that you enjoy resetting the Page Setup options just so the new worksheet matches the rest.

What was that I heard?

Were you wondering about a faster way to transfer Page Setup options?

Yeah, that’s what I thought I heard.

Want a couple of tricks to speed up your Page Setup duties?

Of course, who wouldn’t?

So, let’s get to it!

The first scenario is a workbook with several pages that need to have the same Page Setup.

To avoid the old routine of redoing these settings for each page, give this a try.

  • Highlight all the sheet tabs for each worksheet that should have the same Page Setup. (You can hold down the Control key and click on individual sheet tabs or use the Shift key to select consecutive sheets).

  • Now, go to the File menu, Page Setup choice.

  • The Page Setup window will open and you’re ready to make your changes as normal.

  • When you finish, click the OK button.

Boom!

All the selected pages have those new settings with no repetition necessary. Now, let’s take a look at situations where you already have the settings complete on a sheet and want to transfer them to another sheet.

  • First, you should activate the sheet with all the settings. Click on its sheet tab, for instance. (The source Excel should take the settings from).

  • Now, select the sheets to which Excel should copy the settings. Again, you can use the Control key to select tabs one at a time or the Shift key to select a range of sheet tabs.

  • Now, open the Page Setup window. (File menu, Page Setup choice).

  • Click the OK button.

Poof!

The new sheet(s) have the old settings, without you having to arrange them one item at a time.

Yeah!
