Set Your AOL Homepage
Here’s one for all you AOL users out there!
For the longest time, I thought it was impossible to have a homepage for my AOL. I thought the AOL Welcome window was all the homepage I could ever get. I mean, it’s always there and it seems hard to get rid of. Did you think the same thing? Well, I’m here to tell you that’s not true! You can have a homepage for AOL, it’s just a little hidden. Luckily, I have found a way to access the homepage feature in AOL in just a matter of seconds and with a simple tap of a key. Let’s check it out!
First, you will have to work offline for a minute in your Control Panel. Go to Start, Control Panel, Network and Internet Connections, Internet Options. The Internet Properties window will then appear. Under the Homepage area, type in the name of the Web site you would like your homepage to be set to (for example, http://www.worldstart.com). When you begin to type in the name of the Web site, a list of your most frequently visited sites will appear. You can pick one of these or you can finish typing in another Web site you’d like to use. Once you have that done, press Apply, give it a couple of seconds and then click on the OK button.
Next, go and log in to your AOL account. Once you’re logged in to your account and everything is finished loading, you are now ready to access your homepage. And here’s the really cool part! All you have to do is press these two keys: Ctrl + N.
Hold down the Ctrl key, while holding down the N key at the same time. Then stand back and be amazed as your new homepage comes up in mere seconds. In my case, it would be Yahoo!
Now, I suggest that you pick a search engine site, such as Yahoo!, Google, MSN, etc. to be your homepage. If you do that, you can browse through Web sites with no trouble at all, because you won’t have to waste any time typing a search engine site’s URL into your address bar every time you need to search for something. Every time you open your AOL, you will already be on the Web site, all ready to get started. I mean, the quicker you get to the search engine site, the quicker you’ll be finished.
But, please do choose a homepage that will meet your needs and your needs only. New freedom in AOL is here. It just doesn’t get any better!
