This is another one of those instances where I could’ve sworn we already had a tip on this somewhere, but again I was left in surprise. A reader e-mailed me recently and asked me how to set their mouse to single click in Windows Vista and Windows 7. I went looking through our vast archives and found no such thing, so I thought today would be a good day to break this one out!
Here’s the info:
For Vista:
Click Start>Control Panel and make sure you’re in Classic View. Then click “Folder Options”. You should see a screen similar to the image below.
For Windows 7:
Simply click Start and type in “Folder Options” in the Search Box and press Enter.

Simply make sure “Single-click to open an item” is selected; click Apply, and then OK.
You’re all set!
