SP2 Hardware & Software Conflicts

So, you’re about to install Win XP Service Pack 2 . I suggest you find out if there are any measures you should take before installing. Head over to the web site for your computer’s manufacturer first.

Dell: Dude, if you got a Dell there are some hoops you need to jump through before installing SP2. Check out their page or get whacked…

Gateway: Again, you should read their page before installing SP2…

HP: This is the SP2 info page for HP computers…

What if you already went ahead and installed SP2? Maybe you got lucky and didn’t experience any problems. Or perhaps you’ve run into trouble. Well, fortunately there is help available.

First is the Microsoft XP Service Pack 2 Support Center where you can get advice on installing and using SP2. Also, get help with hardware and software problems…

For problems with other programs and hardware, check the support web site for the product and see if there are any patches. Here are a few I’ve found…

Norton Antivirus: Symantec has an SP2 Information Center to answer any questions and address conflicts…

McAfee: You should manually update your McAfee. Here’s how…

Zone Alarm: visit the Xp SP2 Info Center

Service Pack 2 is not necessarily a “click and go” update—there may be groundwork and adjustment needed. Don’t give up, just get the right info to solve your problems.
