I think we’ve all run across some JibJab flash animations in our time on the Internet, but now you can star in your own show! You have seven shows to choose from: The Can-Can, Square Dance, Disco, La Cucaracha, The Charleston, The Chiquita and the Hula.
The first thing you are going to want to do is register. Don’t worry though, it’s free and not too invasive. Registering allows you to publish your videos so that you can send them off to friends and family. I didn’t find this out until I was ready to send mine off, but thankfully, the confirmation e-mail only took about five minutes to arrive.
Now, to get started, choose a show that you or your loved ones want to star in. I chose The Charleston! Just click Create under The Charleston (or whichever one you choose) and you’ll be whisked away to upload your photos for the roles. Well, in mine, I’m casting my parents, so I clicked on Browse in the top panel of the section, headed to My Documents, My Photos and I then selected the image I wanted to use. Just do it for whatever way works the best for you on your computer.
Next, it’s all about fine tuning the image into a JibJab head. After you upload the pictures you want to use, you get to go step by step through the process of creating a head. I was really surprised at how clear the directions were. The process is made very easy with the use of a zoom tool and being able to add and remove dots around the frame of the face to get the best shaped head possible.
Once you’ve cast your film, you’ll be able to preview it, add a title and message and then you can save it. I do recommend saving it just in case something goes wrong when you go to publish it via e-mail or embedding it to your friends and family. Overall, I was very impressed at how easy this was to do. So, if I can do it, I bet you all can too!
Well, I’m off! I have more movies to make. I think my parents’ heads came out cute, so I want to make them Square Dance and do some Disco. Go on, you know you want to check it out!
