I use a flash drive to back up all my data and I leave it plugged in all the time. Does leaving it plugged in all the time wear it out quicker, or should I be plugging it in only when I need to copy something to it? Is formatting a flash drive different than defragging the drive? I generally format the flash drive when I want to clean everything off after having transferred it, I also format my camera card after downloading the pictures. Am I causing too much wear on the cards?
