Take Control Of Your Kids Gadgets With Screen

Thursday, September 1st, 2016 by | Filed Under: Android, Computer Terms, Hardware & Peripherals, iOS, Multimedia, Security Help

If you’ve got kids, you know how difficult it can be in the electronic age to separate them from their devices. True, many devices do have parental controls, but that can mean setting up separate parental controls on a PC, game console, phone, and tablet.  And then hoping your kid doesn’t find a way around them.

A new device promises to make supervising their electronic life much easier. It’s called Screen. Check it out below.

It’s used in combination with an app on your smartphone or tablet. You also install the app on your kids’ phone and tablets.

The TV and game consoles like the Xbox or Wii along with cable boxes and streaming devices are plugged into the Screen box.

Among the devices that work with stream:

  • Xbox
  • Playstation
  • Wii
  • Cable box
  • Chromecast
  • Apple TV
  • iPhone and iPad
  • Android phone and tablets
  • Roku
  • PCs

Using an app on their phone, a parent can remotely control access to all of these devices. Here’s what you can take charge of with screen:

You can instantly lock any device with one tap. You can set schedules and time limits for using each device. You even get a real-time screen capture when a device is unlocked, so sneaking behind Mom’s back is a lot more of a challenge. The Screen app will also allow you track the location of mobile devices and see just what kids are looking at on their phones, PCs, and tablets.

Using the app you can monitor all of the devices for everyone in the family.

And then make any changes to them with a few taps.

Having the devices automatically shut off can avoid a lot of arguments. It also prevents grandparents and babysitters from bending your rules.  And Screen isn’t just for kids. It’s also a great way for adults to remind themselves to limit their screen time and to be sure you don’t break that family rule about a device-free dinner.

Screen is currently available for pre-order at $99.

What do you think? Is Screen something that would work at your house? Click here to let us know in the comments.
