Yahoo will be introducing a new data center in Lockport, NY, one that the company hopes will become the world’s most efficient data center. This facility will be powered mainly by hydroelectric power from Niagara Falls, completely use outside air to cool the servers and have a yearly PUE average of around 1.1 or better. The company also annouced that it hopes to reduce the carbon footprint of all of their data centers by 40 percent by 2014; It should not be too long until other technology firms such as Google, Microsoft and Amazon begin to do the same.

Microsoft has added a real-time Twitter search to their new search engine, Bing.com, which software superpower hopes may allow it to have an advantage against the search engine giant, Google.

The newly appointed director of Britian’s MI6 may lose his position before he even steps into his new office, thanks again to the Internet. Personal details and photographs of John Sawers, currently the British ambassador to the United Nations, were posted by his wife on her public Facebook profile, which has since been removed.
