The IEEE, an international professional organization that is known to set standards for computers and communications, has finally unofficially approved the 802.11n wireless LAN standard. Bruce Kraemer, the Chairman of the 802.11n Task Group, stated in an email, sent to task group members, that the 802.11n would become an approved standard by the IEEE. The Wi-Fi Alliance stated that it would be updating it’s Wi-Fi certification on September 30th in order to test products that might meet the full standard.

Last week, Twitter, the popular micro-blogging service, changed it’s Terms of Service since the company now knows how it’s service is “being used”. Major changes included: leaving the door open for advertising, allowing Twitter to “use, copy, reproduce, process, adapt, modify, publish, transmit, display and distribute” tweets (though the company does state the tweets belong to the user) and added terms regarding abusive behavior and spam.

After releasing their new operating system, Mac OS X 10.6, on August 28th, Apple has published the first update, 10.6.1. This update provides general operating system fixes such as: allowing compatibility with some Wireless 3G modems, fixing a issue with DVD playback, correcting printer compatibility problems, and repairing a bug which prevented users from removing an item from the Dock.
