So what are the best tablets out there? If you don’t mind spending some money, you have some great choices.
Check out this list so we can help you decide what your next tablet should be.
10. Xiaomi Mi Pad 7.9
Although you have probably never heard of Xiaomi before, you shouldn’t overlook this tablet. The Chinese brand surprised everyone back in 2014 with this device, not only because it offers top notch specs. but because it costs less than half of the money other brands ask for similarly equipped tablets.
The 7.9 inch size makes it easy to put in a purse or even in a big pocket. The 1536 x 2048 IPS screen, combined with one of the latest Nvidia’s mobile chips and 2 Gb of RAM should be enough even for the most demanding users.
Unfortunately, Xiaomi doesn’t offer a version of this tablet that has cellular capabilities, so you won’t be able to use a SIM card. Also, the tablet’s case is all plastic, except for the glass panel in the front. Keep that in mind if build quality is important to you.
As for the price, you can find it for around $199 online. It is pretty hard to find, because Xiaomi doesn’t sell its products in US and Europe, but you can order the device from trusted Chinese websites or from stores that import the Mi Pad.
There are rumors Xiaomi will launch a new generation of the MiPad, but as for now the manufacturer hasn’t mentioned a release date.
9. Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2
This is one of the many tablets Samsung sells right now. The special thing about the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 is its size. Its 12.2 inch display makes it look like a small TV rather than a tablet. If screen size is important to you and you want to watch movies, browse the web and don’t care that much about portability, this might be the tablet for you.
As for all the high end Samsung products, this tablet features some of the latest technology that’s available today. Under the hood, powering everything, there’s an in house-made Exynos octa-core CPU with 3 Gb of RAM. Because of the powerful engine, Samsung added a feature called “Multi Window” that allows computer-like multitasking. For example, on one half of the screen you can watch a YouTube video while on the other you can write an email.
The price goes from $570 to as high as $900 for a 64 Gb LTE model. That’s rather pricey, and for that of money you can get a top of the line laptop. But if you want a tablet, this one is certainly worth taking into consideration.
8. Nvidia Shield Tablet
Gaming hardware and software manufacturer Nvidia decided to step into the tablet market back in 2014 with this high performance tablet. They are advertising it as “The Ultimate Tablet For Gamers” and that’s probably true, considering it is the only tablet currently in production marketed directly to gamers.
Powering all your games and graphical-intensive apps is a GeForce Kepler GPU, which teams up with a quad core CPU to deliver outstanding performance when gaming and not only. Another headline feature is the tablet’s possibility to stream full fledged games from your computer over the internet, which turns your tablet into one of the best portable gaming devices ever.
The Shield Tablet is priced at $299 for the 16 Gb Wi-Fi model and $399 for the 32 Gb LTE one. If you’re a gamer looking for a tablet, this is the perfect choice, mainly because it is aimed directly at you. Keep in mind that there might be a new version coming out this fall, so we advise you to wait a few weeks until the new one comes out.
