This Web site is a journey into the world of coal mining. Its purpose is to commemorate all the coal miners. On the main page, you’ll find an introduction that really explains what the site is all about.
I’m bringing you this site, because of the amazing galleries here. They are of coal mines, coal camps, the miners themselves and much more. Some are black and white photos that have been colored, but either way, these nine galleries are filled with amazing images that everyone should have the chance to see.
The site breaks down into three areas: Quick Links, The Galleries and About Coal Mining.
Quick Links – Here you will find the About sections so that you can learn why the author made the site. You will also find links to the guestbook, the petition for the commemorative stamp and the Home link that will take you back to the main page at any time.
The Galleries – This is where you will find the links to the nine galleries I wrote about earlier.
About Coal Mining – Here you will find information on coal mining, coal camps, get specific coal mining facts, learn about the inside of a coal mine and more. Like coal itself, in the Black Diamond section, there are even sections on coal mining disasters, coal miner’s in literature and the United Mine Workers.
I think this gives you an interesting look into a coal miner’s life, without it being sugar coated or overdone. I think it paints a realistic portrait of the workers who risk their lives mining coal and how they live. I hope you enjoy it!
