Given the kind of information overload we are bombarded with on a daily basis, it is no surprise that a lot of people like to use some type of note-taking app. They are handy for everything from saving useful links, to making to-do lists to jotting down ideas.
Apple Notes has been the hidden gem of iOS devices and Macs. It’s the little cousin that gets ignored for the shinier features that Apple regularly rolls out with each update. What many of us do not realize is that Notes is in itself a very powerful application. If you own an iPhone or iPad or an Apple computer, you’d be doing yourself a disservice by not using the app.
You can save links, videos, text, and pictures, make bullet lists, and even doodle in Notes. Most importantly it lets you sync the notes across various devices and even password-protect notes if you so desire. Want to know more? Then read along. We will focus on iOS devices, as most people are likely to use Notes on the go.
Creating a new note is super easy. Just tap the pen and paper icon at the bottom right corner.
You will be greeted with a brand new screen where you can type in using the on screen keyboard.
To edit any note from your Notes folder, just tap on it and you will go forward to the compose screen where you can edit the text. To delete a note, swipe left on a particular note and tap the red ‘Delete’ button that reveals itself.
For many people, this is as much as they’ll ever need to do with Notes. But as I mentioned before, there is a lot more that this little app can do to make your life easier.
Tomorrow, in part 2 of this article, we’ll check some ways to get the most out of Notes.
