DNS -

DNS (Domain Name System) numbers are used by computers to locate a
particular site on a network (the internet for example). Each site (domain)
has it's own DNS number. When you type a name into your web browser (like
www.worldstart.com), your internet service provider's DNS server looks up
the name and retrieves the site's DNS number. Once the number is obtained,
the system can transfer you to the site.

For example this site, Worldstart, uses the DNS number below. If you copy
that into the address bar of a web browser (like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator), it should take you to the site. Cool trick, huh?
