ASCII
-
ASCII is short for:
American Standard Code for Information Interchange.
ASCII is basically
non-formatted text that can be read by any app that can
read text, unlike say, a Word document. If you have a Word document, you
have to open it in MS Word or another program capable of reading Word
documents.
Most text files are
ASCII text files. They can be opened in any program
that's capable of reading a text file. You can open it in Word, Notepad,
even in DOS. It really doesn't matter. So, if you're not sure that someone
has the ability to open a document that you've been working on, save it
as
a text file.
