Tip #2499 - To the Letter

To
the Letter
Do you possess one of those
extremely large contact lists in MS Outlook? Do you use the address card
view in Outlook when you go to the Contacts area?
If you answered "yes"
to both of those questions, I'm sure you also know the frustration of
searching through all those cards looking for just the one you need.
With this time consuming
task in mind, I've got a couple of suggestions for simplifying address
card navigation.
First, for those who
use the mouse more than the keyboard, you should note the alphabet is
displayed vertically on the right side of the window.

Click on a
letter and Outlook will instantly move to the first address card
containing a name beginning with that letter.
Now, what about those
who do not prefer the mouse? Do I have a quick trick for you too?
Well, of course!
All you have to do
is type. If you type the first letter of the contact's
name, you'll make the jump to the beginning of the cards starting with
that letter.
Although the keyboard
does have its advantages, if you continue to type the name for which you're
searching, the selection will move directly to the card you seek. (This
bypasses the step of sorting through all the cards beginning with the
same letter).
With just this small
trick, you'll tame your long address card list in no time!
