Personalized
Brush
Wouldn’t it
be great if you could put your personalized stamp on all of the images
that you take?
It would be nice
especially if you are an avid photographer and share your images online
using a service like Flickr. After all the hard work you do while taking
those lovely images, you surely don’t want someone else to post
those images on their Web site without giving you any credit.
To make sure that
doesn't happen, you could of course open every image in Photoshop and
write some text on it to let everyone know that the images belong to you.
However, there is something that is a little more convenient. Today we're
going to learn how to create your very own personalized brush, so from
now on, all you have to do to put your stamp on your images is click the
brush once. Interested? I thought you might. Let's get started!
First off, we need
to create a new document. The size of the document doesn’t really
matter, as the brush can be resized when you use it.

Now, add a new layer
to the document and select the Custom Shape tool.

On the toolbar that
appears on top, you will see an option which says "Shape." Click
on it and select the copyright symbol.

Next, press D
on the keyboard so that the default color becomes black for all text and
symbols.
On the new layer, drag and size the copyright symbol according to how
you want it to appear. Once you have done this, you can enter the text
that you want to include along with your copyright symbol using the type
tool. Align the two layers together (depending on how you want them to
appear) and merge them. To merge the layers, press Shift + Ctrl
+ E. Everything should then be on the same layer.
Now, use the rectangular
marquee to select the text and the symbol. Then go to Edit,
Define Brush Preset. As the dialog box pops up, enter
the name for your brush.

Ta da! You’ve
got your own brush! Now, let’s use it. Open any image that you want
to personalize. In that image, create a new layer on which you want the
personalized text to appear. Choose the brush tool and select the copyright
brush from the brush picker. All you have to do now is click where you
want the symbol and the text to appear.

Remember that while
using this customized brush, the standard brushing rules still apply.
You can increase or decrease the size of the brush, as well as, control
the brush opacity to give the desired effect.

That’s it! This
is all it takes to create your own personalized brush. Now, every time
you take an image or color correct it in Photoshop, it will just take
one more second to stamp it with your own name.
Happy brushing!
