Q:
How do you use the photo storage program from Yahoo!?
A:
I'm glad you brought this subject up, because nowadays, several people
are using digital cameras, hence ending up with many digital photos. You
may put them on your computer, but then you just leave them sit there
for awhile. What really is the point in that? You might as well share
those photos with your friends and family, right? There's no use in keeping
those photos a secret. There are a few photo sharing programs available
online today and one of the major ones is called Yahoo! Photos.
I'm going to tell
you about Yahoo! Photos instead of the others, because it is one of the
most popular and the easiest to use. It is also the Web's largest photo
sharing service, so if you're planning on putting a lot of photos up,
you'll want to go with this one. Okay, you do need to have a Yahoo! username
and password set up to be able to use it. First, go here
and log in to your account.
Once you're signed
in, you will see a tutorial that will take you through a few steps of
the photo process and it will just help you to be more familiar with the
program. If you don't want to do the tutorial, you can bypass it. Now,
the first thing you need to do is upload your pictures. To do this, click
on the Upload Photos button. This will take you to the
page where you download the actual Yahoo! Photos Easy Upload Tool. Click
Download Now to get started. There are even complete
installation instructions included, so you shouldn't have any problems
getting it onto your computer. It's a very easy setup.
When that's done,
you can continue with uploading your photos. You can either add photos
to an "All My Photos" album or you can create a new album name.
Once you decide, you just have to select the photos you want to upload.
Click on the Select Photos button and find the pictures
you want. You'll have to hit the button each time you want to add a new
photo. When you have all of them selected, click the Start Upload
button at the bottom of the page.
Once the upload process
is done, you will see that the upload is complete (or if there was a problem,
it will let you know). Hit the Continue button to proceed.
On the next page, you will see the pictures you uploaded. You can then
add tags to them as a bulk collection if you want. You can just type in
some keywords about what your photos consist of. Just separate them by
commas (for example, holidays, vacation, sports). When you're done, hit
Apply and then Save.
Now, if you would
like to bypass the tags section, you can go below that and just edit each
picture individually. You can give your picture a name and a description.
For example, one of my pictures is of my dog, so I put his name in there
and just wrote a little note about him. You can add a tag here too if
you want, just for the individual picture. When you're all done with your
selections, click Save and then you can go on to your
next picture.

After that, you can
create a slideshow or you can e-mail individual photos to your friends
and family. The best thing to do is go through the different tabs at the
top of the page (Slideshow, Create, Share, Edit, Prints and Gifts) and
see what all is available. There's so many things you can do with your
pictures. Along the left hand side of the page, you also have the choices
of All My Photos, My Albums, My Tags and My Friends' Photos. You can click
on My Friends' Photos and add them to your page. That
way, you can see their pictures whenever you want, fast and easy!
When you're all done,
let your friends know that you have new pictures on your Yahoo! page so
they can go and check them out. It's so much fun to share your photos.
Don't let them just sit on your computer anymore. Get them out there for
others to see and have fun doing it! Also, other photo sharing programs
you can use include Flickr, Webshots and PhotoBucket. Enjoy!
