Update or Not to Update
Did you know that
there's a choice as to how you insert the date or time into an Excel worksheet?
Did you know that
you could choose to have the date or time entered as a piece of data that
doesn't change or as a field that will be updated when you open the file
or press the F9 key?
Well, as you can guess
by now, you've got a choice and they're more easier to use than you could
ever imagine!
For date and time
data that won't update, use these key combinations:
Ctrl + ;
(semi-colon) to enter today's date in the cell.
Ctrl + Shift
+ : (colon) to enter the current time in the cell.
For date and time
information that updates, try these formulas in the
cells:
=today()
(that's a left and right parentheses with no space) will put today's
date in the cell.
=now()
(that's also a left and right parentheses with no space) will put both
today's date and the current time in the cell.
Now, the only question
is whether to update or not to update. You choose!
