Yahoo!
E-mail Alerts
Alright, here we go! This one
is for all of you Yahoo! e-mail users out there (and I know there's a
bunch of you!) We've touched on this topic before for Outlook Express
and Thunderbird, but I thought you all might like to know how you can
do it in Yahoo! So, what am I going on and on about? That would be e-mail
alerts. Read on to learn more!
When you're waiting
for new e-mails to arrive, how do you know when they get to your Inbox?
Do you just wait by your computer all day, constantly refreshing the page
to see if any new messages have come in? Well, that is one way to do it,
but there's a much easier way to go about this. How would you like for
your computer to alert you whenever you receive a new e-mail message?
I know I would love that! To do this, you need to have a Yahoo! Messenger
account set up. (If you don't, you can easily download it here
and just use the same username and password that you use with your e-mail
account).
Okay, once you log
in to your Messenger account, go to Preferences and navigate
to the Alerts and Sounds category. Under the option that
says "Alert me when," highlight the choice
of "I receive a mail message." You can then
choose in what way(s) you want to be alerted. Under "Alert
me by," choose a sound, a pop up notification, etc. When
you're all done, click OK. So, from now on, if you leave
your Yahoo! Messenger running, you will get those alerts every time you
have a new e-mail message. With this, you'll know right away when you
get new mail and you won't have to waste your time with anything but reading
them!
