Q:
Is there anything you can tell me about The Filter for iTunes?

A:
I sure can! I heard about this the other day as well and thought it sounded pretty neat. So, let's all check it out together! Now, of course, this is only for those of you who have an iPod and use the iTunes music library for your playlists. If you fit into that category, then read on. You're not going to want to miss this one!

First of all, let me ask you this: Do you like to listen to certain songs while you're doing certain activities? Let's say you've decided to take your iPod on a roadtrip with you and you've made a playlist just for the trip. You're probably going to need some upbeat songs to keep you awake while you're driving, right? That's good, but what if a couple slower songs get in the mix? Then what are you going to do? Well, it sounds like you need some sort of program to make those playlists for you. You know, something that will choose all the right songs for you with no mistakes. That's where The Filter comes into play. Read all about it below.

The Filter is a downloadable plug-in for iTunes that works mainly with your music playlists. The coolest thing about it is that it can create your playlists for you, depending on the type of mood you're in. For example, if you would like to create a playlist for when you're exercising, you can pick a couple of songs from your playlist that will get you in the mood to move. Just choose two or three songs to start with and The Filter will feed off the rest of your songs to complete the perfect playlist.

That's only one example too. You can have The Filter create playlists for any activities that you may do throughout the day. If you're going to be cleaning your house, make a playlist for that. If you're playing with your kids, make one for them. If you're in the middle of wrapping gifts for Christmas, make a holiday playlist. If you're getting ready to take an afternoon nap, make a quiet and peaceful playlist that will help you relax. As you can see, the options can go on and on.

Now, the only thing you need to have is at least 200 songs in your iTunes music library. That way, The Filter will have several songs to choose from when it's creating your playlists. It will pick the songs best suited for the list you want to create. All you have to do is get the list started and The Filter will take care of the rest for you. How cool is that?!

So, you may be wondering what happens if you add new songs to your library that you think would be perfect for a certain playlist. How are you going to get those added on? Well, luckily, iTunes has thought of everything, because there's another program called The Filler that refreshes your playlists every time you add new songs to your music library. It will automatically update each playlist for you if it recognizes that one of your new songs belongs in a certain playlist. It's so convenient!

Once you download either of these programs, you should check out their Quick Start guides and maybe browse through the FAQs. Both of those will help you understand the two programs to their full extent and they will answer any questions you might have about the services. Now, both of these programs are compatible with the new version of iTunes (7), as well as, version 6, but it is required for you to have a broadband Internet connection on your computer in order for this to work.

If you're interested in either of these programs from iTunes, you can download them right now. Go here to download The Filter and here for The Filler. Just click on the Download icons and you will be on your way to "pure entertainment," no matter what your mood may be!
