Tip #3430 - WorldStart's Newsletter Reader
Printer Friendly Version | E-Mail This Tip
Q:
I would like to start using your Newsletter Reader, but I'm not sure how
it works. Can you help me out with all of that?
A:
I sure can! I actually got a couple phone calls about this same thing
the other day as well, so now I know it's something that definitely needs
to be covered. First of all, for those of you who don't know, we here
at WorldStart offer different alternatives for receiving our newsletters.
You can sign up to have them sent straight to your e-mail Inbox, you can
see them on our Web site everyday or you can receive them in what we call
the Newsletter Reader.

What often happens
is that you sign up for the newsletters to be sent to your e-mail, but
for some reason, you don't get them. Either your ISP is blocking them
or some other mysterious act is keeping you from getting them successfully.
If this happens, you can always call and complain to your ISP, but sometimes,
they aren't very willing to help. So, this is where the Newsletter Reader
comes in. It's the best alternative we have to guarantee you will see
the newsletters every day.
Our Newsletter Reader
is "the next step in newsletter evolution!" The Reader actually
pulls the newsletters from a Web server (it's just like a Web site),
so you never have to worry about not getting your daily dose of computer
tips, jokes, stories, etc. This also guarantees that the newsletters won't
ever be accidentally deleted, they won't get stuck in a spam filter and
they won't bounce back due to an ISP problem. You also don't have to worry
about the newsletters piling up in your e-mail Inbox if you go away for
a few days. When you get back, you will only see the current issues and
if you want to see the ones you missed, you can still get them through
the archive area.
With the Newsletter
Reader, you can have complete newsletter control with no extra hassle.
If all of that sounds good to you, come along with me as I walk you through
the download process. It's free, fast and so easy to do! To get started,
It is only a 5.2 meg download and as long as you have Windows 95, 98,
ME, 2000 or XP and Internet Explorer 5 or better, you're good to go.
Now, choose Run.
Once the setup is done, click Run again. A wizard type
box will appear. Read through the welcome and then click Next
to continue. Now, you can read through the license agreement and when
you're ready, click the button next to "I agree to the terms
of this license agreement." Then click Next three
times to continue on with the installation. You will then need to restart
your computer for the installation to complete. When you're ready, click
on the box that says "Yes, restart my computer now"
and then click Finish to do so.
When your computer
turns back on, you will see an icon on your desktop for the Newsletter
Reader. Double click that to open the program. You will then see all of
the newsletters for the present day. For example, if you were to download
it today, you will see the current issues of the Computer Tips and Techniques
and the Just For Grins newsletters. Just click on the one you want to
view and it will load up on your screen. You can then read the newsletter
just like it would come in your e-mail.
Then, if you want
to look at an issue you missed, just use the pull down arrow at the top
where it says More Newsletters. You can pick an issue
from the current month or select the Complete List option,
which will give you the newsletters from all the way back in July of 2006.
There are several
things you can do with the Reader as well, such as print the newsletters
out, send them to a friend and get extra help if you're having any trouble.
It's so convenient and like I said before, with this, you will never miss
an issue of WorldStart's newsletters again. So, if you've ever had trouble
receiving them before, give the Newsletter Reader a try. It's really worth
it if you're a die hard WorldStart fan. Check it out!
Again, you can download
the Newsletter Reader right from here.
Enjoy!
