Tip #3478 - Love Those Symbols

Love
Those Symbols
Do you find that you're constantly
in MS Word's Symbol window trying to insert one thing or another?
Ever use more than
one symbol in your document? Did you know in advance that you'd need them
all?
If you did, then I've
got to ask: How many times did you open that Symbols window?
More than you wanted
to, I'm sure. So, your next thought has to be if there's a way to minimize
all the time spent opening and closing the Symbol window.
It's a good thought
and if you know in advance what you'll need, you can work on reducing
the time you spend accessing the Symbols window.
Here's the deal. I
don't know if you've ever noticed, but when you click the Insert
button in the Symbol window, the window doesn't close. Yes, the
symbol is inserted into your document, but the window stays open and active.
So, you see, if you
know in advance that you'll need multiple symbols, you can insert them
one after another without closing the Symbol window at all. After the
first one, select another and click Insert again.
Sure, Word's going
to put them one after another into your document, so you might want to
place them at an easy location to find. But, once they're all in the document,
you can cut and paste them to the correct location without all the extra
hassle with menus and the Symbol window.
I just love it when
I find a new way to save some time!
