Q:
Do you know anything about Yahoo! Photo Mail? If so, please share your
information with us!
A:
Well, to be honest with you, I didn't know much about it until you asked
this question. So, it's a good thing you asked, because now we can all
learn about this great program! There's no more time to waste on not using
this, so let's get started!
First of all, the
whole basis behind Yahoo! Photo Mail is "an easier way to share your
photos by using your Yahoo! e-mail." Before I go any further, I want
you all to know two things. One: Yahoo! Photo Mail is still in the beta
version, so they're still trying to get all the quirks worked out (but
it still works very well, so don't worry too much!) Two: You need to have
a Yahoo! account to be able to use this. Of course, if you already use
Yahoo!'s e-mail service, you have an account. Or, if you use Yahoo! Messenger,
you have an account. Just use the same username and password you have
for either of those for this. Okay, now that all of that's done, let's
really get started!
The best thing about
Yahoo! Photo Mail is that you can insert your photos right into your e-mail
messages. You no longer have to worry about attachments. How great is
that?! You can either insert your own digital photos, pictures you may
have saved in your own Yahoo! Photos or even images from the Yahoo! Image
Search. So, basically, if you ever want to share a picture with someone
else, you have several options to choose from!
Another great thing
about this is that it makes it so much easier for your e-mail recipients
to see the pictures you send them. When you insert an image into an e-mail,
it makes it into a thumbnail type size, but there's always a link included
that lets the recipient see it at a larger size. Plus, you can send as
many photos in one e-mail that you'd like. Also, like I said before, this
means no more hassle with attachments and it also means no more huge downloads
that the computer can't handle. Everyone will be able to see all of the
photos at a perfect size. Not too big and not too small. Just perfect!
With Yahoo! Photo
Mail, you can also save all of the photos you send and receive from the
Yahoo! Photos program. That way, you will be able to save all the pictures
you deal with in one easy to access place. There is an unlimited amount
of storage space for them and it's all free too!
It's very easy to
get Yahoo! Photo Mail and start using it. The download size is only 1.3
MB, so it doesn't take very long, no matter what kind of Internet connection
you have. It only works with Windows 2000 and XP (I'm sure they'll have
something for Windows Vista soon too) and you can only use it with the
Internet Explorer Web browser (5.5 or higher). As long as you have all
of that, you can get started right now.
To do so, navigate
to this Web site and click
on the Get Started button. Next, you will need to enter
in your Yahoo! username and password and click Sign In.
The first thing you'll see is a download for the Quick Select Tool. This
is just a utility that helps out with Yahoo! Photo Mail, so go ahead and
complete the download. Click the Begin Install button
and then hit Run twice. Next, just wait for the next
window to come up, which may take a few seconds. The next thing you can
do is either go on a tour to learn more about using the Quick Select Tool
with Yahoo! Photo Mail or if you're ready to begin right away, click the
Use It Now! button.
You will then see
some of your pictures. To experiment, just choose one and drag and drop
it into the open area on the right hand side of the window. You can put
more than one in if you want as well. When you've got all of them in there,
click OK. They will automatically be put into an e-mail
message for you. All you have to do now is enter in a recipient's e-mail
address, write a little note to them if you want and then click Send.
From that point, it's just like composing a regular e-mail. It's so easy
to use!

Then, once the recipient
gets the e-mail, they can double click on the thumbnail size to make the
image larger. If you'd like to add a photo to each e-mail that you send,
just click on the Insert Photos button in your e-mail
window and the same screen will come up. It's so convenient! That's about
it. Doesn't that just sound like the coolest thing you've heard about
in a long time? I think so! I'm planning on using it all the time. That
is, until my friends get tired of me sending them photos. : )
Enjoy!
