It Quicker
Work with large or complex
documents in MS Word?
Do those huge documents
take awhile to come up in Word? How about when you try to scroll through
it? Frustrated with the lag time?
If you'd like a way
to speed the viewing process up, then why not give this little trick a
try?
What we're going to
look at is Word's draft font option. What's that, you ask?
It's a good question
and the best answer I found came from the Office Assistant himself.
Draft font: "Displays
most character formatting as underlined and bold and displays graphics
as empty boxes. Select the Draft font checkbox to speed up screen display
in documents with extensive formatting."
The thing to keep
in mind with this feature is that it displays the document plainly, but
that doesn't mean the formatting is gone. It's just not displayed, which
allows for that "speed up" I mentioned above.
Okay, enough explanation.
Let's get started.
First, we have to
activate the display font option.
We do this through
the Tools menu, Options choice.
On the View
tab, select the draft font checkbox.

Click OK.
That's the first step.
Some of you will need to switch
views to see the change.
If you're like me
and work primarily in the Print Layout View, you won't see a difference
yet, but hang on, I've got you covered.
To complete the change,
you need to switch to the Normal view. (View menu, Normal
choice).
There you have it.
Draft font, faster viewing and all your formatting safe and sound, but
"put away" for awhile. Yes!
