iTunes
and Vista
In the last couple of days,
I've had several of you asking about iTunes' compatibility with the new
Windows Vista operating system. It seems as if several of you who used
iTunes before Vista even came out have now upgraded and you want to make
sure everything will still work right with your music library.
Well, first of all,
Apple actually released a new version of the iTunes software this past
Monday (March 5, 2007). That is great news, but it turns out, there are
still some issues that remain troublesome. Although this new software
fixes a lot of the problems that existed before (you could corrupt your
iPod if you used iTunes with Vista, etc.), there are a few left outstanding.
This really comes at no surprise, because it's often very difficult to
get "old" things to work right with the "new."
Now, don't be too
disappointed. Apple reports that they are working very hard in conjunction
with Microsoft to get these problems resolved. Apple is not quite sure
about an exact time frame of when that will be at this time though. As
of right now, it's not a good idea to use your iTunes with Vista, because
it could cause you even more problems down the road as well. All I can
really tell you is to be patient and when everything is fixed, you will
be able to enjoy your music even more. I will also try to keep you updated
on this situation, so just try to sit tight for now!
