Podiobooks
I love my MP3 player! I use it all the time and not just for music either.
I have a couple of podcasts I listen to from day to day and every now
and then, I will use it to listen to a book in digital form. I never used
to listen to books on tape or CD before, but with the MP3 format and compact
players, it's become a worthwhile activity. And it’s a lot of fun.
As a matter of fact, I enjoy my podcasts and audio books so much, I listen
to them substantially more than listening to music on my MP3 Player. Whether
you have a series commute or just like taking long walks, this can be
a fun way to pass the time and you also get to enjoy a good book.
With that in mind,
this week's download is a great online service that serializes books,
providing users with access to them in a number of convenient ways. These
digital books are mostly from Indie authors. They are just normal people
with a knack for writing and they post their work on a site called Podiobooks.
In turn then, Podiobooks posts the content online, allowing subscribers
access to the files. These files can then be listened to on your PC, transferred
to a CD or of course, an MP3 player.

There are a couple
of ways to download the digital books, one of which is through your RSS
reader. (That is, if it supports downloading files and not just reading
text). Or, you can go the conventional route and use the Download
Now link to get the whole book (or at least what is available
in one shot). The other method is a subscription based scenario where
Podiobooks sends you an episode once a week, by default, so you can enjoy
them at your own pace. You are not limited to the amount of subscriptions
you are signed up for. They also actually recommend a strategy for subscribing
to two or more books, so that they are staggered over a week, dispersing
the book into easy to digest chunks of refreshing content.

I recommend just spending
some time with Podiobooks. Look around and see what they have to offer.
Everything is broken down into easy to search through categories, such
as New Releases and Genres. There is also a section for user comments
listed on the books' description page, which helps you to get a feel for
the book, so you can make a better decision.

So, if you have some
time to kill, are going on a long trip or if you just want to enjoy your
walks a little more this season with a little literary company, go ahead
and strap on your headphones or earbuds and prepare to download, because
Podiobooks has got what you want!
