Tip #3685 - Cloudeight and Vista
Printer Friendly Version | E-Mail This Tip
Q:
In the past, you've written tips on Cloudeight Stationery and I really
like to use it. I've recently upgraded to Windows Vista though and I'm
not sure if Cloudeight will work with it. Do you know anything about this?
If so, please inform me!
A:
We here at WorldStart get e-mails and phone calls all day long from people
wondering if certain programs, etc. work with the new operating system
of Windows Vista. And to tell you the truth, we are still trying to figure
all of that out ourselves, but there are some things we have tested that
do in fact work with Vista. On the other hand though, sometimes I feel
like I have to give the run around when people ask me, because there's
just so much to test and it's impossible to get it all done overnight.
But, along with that, nothing pleases me more than to be able to give
you all a straight answer and well, that's exactly what I'm going to do
today!
I'm very happy to
tell you that Cloudeight Stationery is 100 percent compatible with Vista!
Yes, you heard me right. In fact, I just received the news yesterday and
once I saw today's question in my e-mail, I couldn't wait to share the
good news! Now, if you're not sure what Cloudeight Stationery is, please
read here (and
please excuse the Halloween theme!) Once you're finished reading that
article, you'll know all the basics of Cloudeight and then you can continue
on with this tip!
So, if you're now
using Windows Vista and its e-mail program of Windows Mail, you can start
using Cloudeight Stationery right away. Cloudeight is the first e-mail
Web site to be fully compatible with Vista and Windows Mail, so not only
are you getting what you want, you're getting it first hand! To use their
stationery, you just have to follow three simple steps, which are defined
below. Listen up!
1.) Open Windows Mail
and go to Tools, Options and choose
the Security tab. From there, checkmark the two options
that say "Internet zone (Less secure, but more functional)"
and "Warn me when other applications try to send mail as
me." Also, you need to uncheck the box that says "Block
images and other external content in HTML e-mail." You'll
also want to keep the "Do not allow attachments to be saved
or opened that could potentially be a virus" option checkmarked
for safe keeping. Click OK when you're all finished.
2.) Next, go back
to the Options window and click on the Read
tab. Uncheck the box that says "Read all messages in plain
text." Click OK when you're done. If you
don't do this, you won't be able to see any of the images that come along
with the Cloudeight Stationery. This may be a simple step, but it's one
of the most important.
3.) Finally, go back
to the Options window again and choose the Send
tab this time. Here you need to make sure you choose the HTML
option under the Mail Sending Format section. Click OK
again.
You are now ready
to use Cloudeight's stationery! As you may have noticed, all of the steps
above were the same for Outlook Express in Windows XP, so if you've used
Cloudeight before, you probably whizzed right through it.
Either way, you're
now able to start composing new e-mail messages with the stationery of
your choice. To do this, just go to Message, choose New
Message Using and then select Stationery. From
there, click on the Cloudeight folder to choose the stationery
you want to use. Now, in order for all of this to work right, you must
make sure that you have your new Windows Mail set up correctly. If you're
not completely sure on that, read here
to verify everything.
So far, Cloudeight
has approximately 2,000 stationery files that have been redone for Vista.
You will be able to see all of them once you start your new message and
click on Cloudeight. Each collection you see has between eight and 14
designs in them and each one has its own preview, just like before. They
will be adding more designs every day as well, so make sure you check
back often to see the new updates. If you want to take an advanced look
at the list of designs that are available, you can do so at this Web
site. It also gives you a little more information about the whole
Vista thing!
One more thing: If
you want to stay on top of the Cloudeight Vista progress, you can subscribe
to their newsletter. Each issue will come straight to your e-mail Inbox
and you'll be able to keep up to date on all their stationery news. It
doesn't get any better than that, does it?! Click here
to subscribe yourself today. Until the next Cloudeight update, have yourself
some stationery fun!
