Tip #3690 - Waxmail

Waxmail
Do you hate writing
e-mails? Well, then try recording them instead!
If you're like me,
you are a one finger typist, so writing and replying to e-mails can be
a big chore.
Or, maybe you want
to be a little more personal in your e-mails?
Either way, why don't
you try recording your messages rather than typing them?
Is that possible,
you ask?
Well, as a matter
of fact, it is! It's made possible by a neat little program called Waxmail
and best of all, it’s 100 percent free too!
If you use MS Outlook
or Outlook Express and you have a microphone for your computer (or if
it has a built in microphone), you're all set.
Just pay a visit to
Waxmail’s Web site here, select
which Outlook program you are using and then just click on the appropriate
button.

You will be asked
to enter in your name and e-mail address first. You can then select to
receive regular newsletters if you wish by checking the indicated box.
When you're ready, click the Download button.

When you have Waxmail
downloaded, go ahead and run the program. It will then ask you where it
can open the temporary files to enable it to install. You can safely accept
what is offered, unless you have other preferences, like this:

And then followed
by this:

Eventually, the installation
will complete, but you will have to reboot your computer. Yes, it's a
pain, but it's necessary nevertheless.

Once you're back from
the reboot, fire up your e-mail program and you will see a new button
for Waxmail:

This is the Command
Center for Waxmail. Clicking on it will result in this screen:

Here, on the right
hand side, is the Recording Center. Just click the big
red button and start recording what you want to say in your e-mail. Yes,
it's that simple!

Press the Stop
button when you're finished and that’s pretty much it!
You will now see
this message:

Unless you want to
see this every time you create a message, check the box to skip the message
in the future.
Now, you have an audio
e-mail lined up with the recorded message as an attachment in an MP3 format.
Waxmail will then
show this message on the e-mail for the recipient to read:

Now, if they click
on the attachment, it will play on whatever media player they have installed
on their PC. So, they don't even need a copy of Waxmail to be able to
do this, but they just might be so impressed with your voicemail/e-mail
that they will want to record a message in return! You never know!
Note: You
will notice that with the free version, there is a small advertising message
at the bottom (which is fair), but if you choose to, you can upgrade to
the paid version and get rid of that. It's your choice.
So, I hope this has
opened up new horizons for you and I hope you enjoy sending your voice
messages to all your e-mail friends, courtesy of Waxmail!
